  1. BOSTON, MA (February 11, 1992) -- Intellicom, Inc. announced at NetWorld
  2. today TPair-426, TPair-406, and TPair-410, a family of low-cost Novell HMI
  3. (Hub Management Interface) compliant IEEE 802.3 10Base/T Hub Cards
  4. providing superior performance and throughput for networks of up to 250 or
  5. more work stations.

  7. The new TPair-426 and TPair-406 10Base/T and the TPair-410 Ethernet Coax
  8. Hub Cards were developed in cooperation with Novell's HMI development
  9. program. They support networks operating under Novell's Netware, and
  10. Netware Lite. They also provide a server based hub capability for users of
  11. Artisoft's LANtastic, and other popular PC network operating systems. They
  12. may also be installed successfully in pre-10Base/T SynOptics LattisNet,
  13. AT&T StarLan, and many other UTP cabled networks.

  15. The TPair-426 is a full size 6-port 16-Bit card. It's easily installed in a
  16. standard AT ISA bus, and features a 16-Bit network interface compatible
  17. with Novel Netware and Novell Lite.

  19. This network interface allows uncomplicated PC-to-server communications
  20. when an NE2000 compatible network interface card (NIC), for example,
  21. Intellicom's TPair-16T, is installed in the PC.
  22.  
  23. When installed in a Netware 3.11 server, the 6-port TPair-426 gives the
  24. user a single platform on which to integrate managed connectivity
  25. functions along with file, print, communications, database, and messaging.
  26. Users can easily connect six work stations to the TPair-426, using simple
  27. phone wire, in an economical 10Base/T network configuration.

  29. An uncomplicated expansion path is provided by TPair-406, a 6-port 10Base/T
  30. ISA bus Hub Card with all the features of the TPair-426 without the
  31. integrated NE2000 interface. TPair-406 can stand alone as a six port hub
  32. in a PC network or is easily employed as a "slave" to the TPair-426, when
  33. installed in the same bus.

  35. TPair-406 Hub Cards may be installed in PC work stations and connected to
  36. the TPair-426 via the internal hub bus, creating up to 24-port hub groups.
  37. The TPair-410 coax expansion card is designed to be installed with a
  38. TPair-426 or 406 Hub Card to provide a fast link to a thin Ethernet
  39. (10Base/2) or thick Ethernet (10Base/5) network. The TPair-410 is equipped
  40. with a BNC (Bayonet Locking Connector) and AUI (Auxiliary Unit Interface)
  41. and operates with any number of TPair-426/406 cards when installed in the
  42. same bus. The user needs only to make a simple switch selection to choose
  43. between the BNC or AUI port.

  45. All TPair-426 and TPair-406 10Base/T ports feature autopartitioning. In the
  46. event of bad data travelling to any port, or a break in the connection to
  47. that port, the individual ports take themselves off-line. When the problem
  48. is corrected, the port comes back on-line with no operator intervention.
  49. All 10Base/T ports feature auto-polarity, so when the UTP has mixed wires
  50. the individual ports automatically sort them out.

  52. Both hub cards fully support the interoperability of various devices on the
  53. network. Each is a repeater, sensing changes in voltage on the UTP,
  54. removing out-of-phase timing, or jitter, regenerating data signals and
  55. aligning signal symmetry, then sending the data packet on its way. They
  56. filter all data, rejecting distorted packets. And they disable
  57. transmissions that get "stuck", creating a situation known as "jabber".

  59. This repeater/retiming on all ports allows a TPair-426 or TPair-406 Hub
  60. Card to be placed in a cascade up-stream or downstream from another
  61. 10Base/T hub or hub card.

  63. Quick-Net 3000 TPair-426/406/410 Hub Cards provide an economical way to
  64. expand an existing network or create a new work group 10Base/T LAN without
  65. costly additional in-wall wiring. TPair-426 and TPair-406 10Base/T Hub
  66. Cards provide all the functionality of large, stand alone hubs without the
  67. complexity of installation and inherent high cost. This networking
  68. solution is designed to accommodate the needs of the smaller office or
  69. work group requiring simple, affordable installation, set-up, and lasting

  92. The TPair-206 Lite Hub supports PC networks running many popular operating
  93. systems such as Novell Netware, Netware Lite, Banyan Vines, and Artisoft's
  94. LANtastic.

  96. The TPair-206 is small in size, but as powerful as the largest intelligent
  97. multi-port hub on the market. TPair-206 measures only 6 inches wide, is a
  98. mere 9 inches deep, and just 2 inches high.

  100. This miniature Lite Hub features 6-RJ45 ports, each providing IEEE 802.3
  101. 10Base/T Ethernet connectivity over unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) for up
  102. to 6 computers, work stations, or file servers.

  105. installation and diagnostic LEDs for each 10Base/T port and the system

  110. TPair-206 users flexibility not always found in larger, more expensive

  112. stand alone creating a new network, or cascaded from another hub, or when
  113. used to bring another work group on to an existing thin Ethernet network.

  115. Quick-Net 3000 TPair-206 is easily installed, requiring no exotic tools or
  116. special skills. All 10Base/T ports support IEEE 802.3 10Base/T with full
  117. repeater/retiming functionality. Repeater function includes sensing

  119. out-of-phase timing of data (called "jitter"), regenerating all data
